“Ukraine has been a “sovereign country” for all of 30 years, artificially created after the collapse of the USSR.”
False. By that logic you must say that the so-called Russia is arterially created upon the USSR collapse, which would be more true because Ukraine was at least a U.N. founding member, while the "Russia" has not. Ukraine has deep historical roots as an independent entity. The Kyivan Rus’ (Old East Slavic: ро́усьскаѧ землѧ́, romanized: rusĭskaę zemlę, русс: Киевская Русь) is also known as Ancient Ukraine (9th–13th centuries) was a major power long before Moscow existed. Ukraine declared independence multiple times (e.g., in 1918) and was recognized as a separate Soviet state within the Soviet Union in 1922. It became fully sovereign in 1991 after a democratic referendum in which over 90% of Ukrainians voted for independence. Russia too had such a referendum where they declared on their independence of the USSR (see the “12 June”),
“Mutual hatred is limited to a couple of western oblasts [of Ukraine] with Nazi ties.”
False. Opposition to Moscow’s rule exists across Ukraine. Soviet repression (Holodomor famine, mass deportations) fueled resistance, not just in the west. The “Nazi” claim is Russian propaganda. While some Ukrainians collaborated with the Germans against the USSR, that history define modern Ukraine less than about a million collaborators from Russia many of whom actually took the oath to Hitler.
We also know that modern Ukraine has never had any organised separatism apart from what Moscow incited, organised, funded, planned, commanded and controlled
“Russia’s relationship with Ukraine goes back hundreds of years... Kyiv was the first capital of Russia."
Misleading. Kyiv was the capital of Kievan Rus' and later of Ukraine, but never of Russia. The idea that Ukraine was always part of Russia ignores long periods of Polish-Lithuanian, Ottoman, and Austrian rule. Every time Ukrainians were forced to join Moscow’s empire, annexed, never on a good will. The term “Novorossiya” (New Russia) was a colonial project imposed by the Russian Empire in the 18th century, not an organic part of Ukraine’s identity.
4. “The 2014 war was a US-instigated coup against a democratically elected president.”
False. The 2014 Euromaidan revolution was a popular uprising against Viktor Yanukovych’s corruption and authoritarian turnaround from an EU trade deal. The claim that it was a “US-orchestrated coup” is a Kremlin false talking point, not a fact. Fact is there was no coup in Kyiv in 2014, but there were coups in Crimea, Donetsk and Luhansk in 2014 attempted and achieved by the Russian military, FSB, proxies and and mercenaries. They also tried to do it in 8 more cities of Ukraine then, but failed mostly due to the poor logistics of what Moscow organised and conducted.
5. “The oblasts Russia ‘invaded’ declared independence legally, like Kosovo.”
False. Unlike Kosovo, the so-called ‘republics’ in Donetsk and Luhansk were Moscow’s pseudo-states occupied and controlled by Russian military, FSB operatives, and proxies. They controlled ~40% of those oblasts of the Donbas, and their fake “referenda” and requests sent to Moscow in 2014 were largely ignored by the Kremlin. The Zaporizhian, Kherson, Kharkiv, Sumi, Chernikhov and Mykolaiv oblasts of Ukraine invaded by the Russian military in 2022. Get the facts first.
6. “Germany’s economic troubles are due to the US mining Nord Stream.”
False. Too often people who say this, don’t even know which of the two, NS-1 or NS-2, were destroyed, and which remains intact because they don’t care for facts, but usually it’s trolls who stick to the rule of not giving specifics, which would quickly lead to the source.
There is no conclusive evidence that the US destroyed any of them. While we have plenty of evidence that it was the Russian Baltic Navy underwater demolition spetsnaz who did it. Germany’s economic issues are also linked to Moscow cutting off gas supplies long before the pipeline explosion, in 2021 and in early 2022.
7. “The US wants to place nukes in Ukraine to strike Moscow.”
False. If anyone checks the map, they will find that it's cheaper and closer to major cities of Russia (Moscow, St. Petersburg, Kaliningrad, Murmansk), to place nukes in NATO countries like Finland, Poland, Latvia, Germany, than in Ukraine. Knowledge of geography really helps (Pete Hegseth shown he does not know geography).
Moreover, the whole “NATO expansion” narrative was a lie made in Moscow to cover up their imperial expansionism* (although what Trump is doing now, in 2025, is an imperial expansionism). Free nations applying to join and joining is not expansionism, it’s admission for a reason: those Eastern and Central European nations were rightfully wanted protection from any Russian aggressions. And we see that Moscow’s forces have attacked only non-NATO members, such as Moldova 1993, Syria 2015-2024, Georgia, Ukraine.
No nation joins NATO for the sake of joining NATO, an organisation. The main reason is Article V of the NATO statute that says, “an armed attack against one or more of them in Europe or North America shall be considered an attack against them all”. No one makes nations join NATO; nations want collective defence, that’s it, and Moscow knows it — it’s the major obstacle to the Kremlin’s imperial expansion.
If you want to invade Russia, you increase troops, not reduce them. Here you can see that the USA and NATO in general had been reducing their military presence in Europe all the way from 1991 to 2014, and only returned them back when Russia invaded Ukraine:

*Although what Trump is doing now, in 2025, towards Canada, Europe, Palestine and Egypt (Suez Canal) is an imperial expansionism supported all the way by both Moscow and Beijing because it will be benefitting them from all respects.
8. “Russia will win, and Ukraine will be carved up.”
Speculative and unlikely. Russia has failed to achieve its military objectives since ~6 a.m. 20 Feb 2014 when they first invaded Ukraine, and now they are waging 1100 days of their war. Over the past 400 days, Z-orcs have added ~0.6% of Ukraine’s land while ~100k Russian men got killed, and 340k wounded. Since August 2024, Ukraine controls land same in size the Russian troops were able to get in Ukraine over the past 10 months.
9. “The US can't manufacture weapons because China controls rare earth metals.”
Exaggerated. Then you don't need to worry about anything. While China dominates rare earth refining, the US, Australia, and other allies are investing in alternative sources. The US already produces advanced weapons without relying entirely on China.
Conclusion :
Most Russian disinformation is mixed of historical distortions, conspiracy theories, and outright lies to justify Russian aggressions. The facts show that Ukraine is a sovereign nation, Russia’s invasion is illegal; and the war was not provoked by the West but by Putin’s expansionist ambitions.
